In Home Cooking Classes:

Chef U is excited to offer in home, 100% hands on, cooking classes. While our dinner parties have always been interactive, our classes make you the star! We’ll teach you to make delicious food in your own kitchen with equipment that you already have and with ingredients you can easily find. Classes can be one-on-one, with your family, or with a few friends.

Classes are designed for small groups so that each person gets personalized instruction. Most of our classes work best with one or two people, but each class can accommodate up to 4.

What you'll learn:

In short, whatever interests you! Each class will teach you more than just how to make the specific recipes we cook in class. The goal is for you to learn skills and techniques that will benefit you any time you cook. Several class ideas are listed below, but those are only a starting point. Once you provide a general idea of what you want, we’ll work together to develop a class that suits your interests.

What you get:

Each student receives a menu, the base recipes used during the class, additional recipes that build on the skills learned, and hands on instruction. The class also includes set up, clean up, and of course all of the delicious food that you cook.

Who can participate:

Classes are designed for small groups so that each person gets personalized instruction. Most of our classes work best with one or two people, but each class can accommodate up to 4. The one exception is our Cooking with Kids class. Whether you have 1 child or 6 (or more), we will make that work in your kitchen.

Class Offerings:

Knife skills: Learn basic (and a few fancy) knife cuts that will improve the quality of any dish you make. You’ll then use the food that you cut up to make a few finished dishes.

Date night: Learn to cook a special meal for or with your sweetie.

Baking: Cookies. Cakes. Brownies. Pies. Custards. Muffins. Enough said.

Weeknight dinners: This class is as much about planning as it is about cooking. Learn to make complete meals that come together quickly, provide quality leftovers, and keep dirty dishes to a minimum.

Special diet: Gluten free, paleo, allergen friendly, etc. You’ll learn to make delicious food that fits into whatever special category you need. (Ask about the egg free chocolate cupcakes with avocado/chocolate frosting.)

Cooking with kids: Bring your kids into the kitchen. These classes can focus on sweet or savory dishes, but children tend to be more interested in making cookies than broccoli soup. Children as young as 3 are encouraged to participate.

Dinner party: Learn to cook a multi course meal for up to 12 people without pulling your hair out or burning down your kitchen. This class has a 3 hour minimum.

What it costs:

Classes for up to 4 people are $75/hour (2 hour minimum) plus the cost of groceries. Larger classes may be arranged if your kitchen has enough space. Additional students are $15 per person per hour.
